Goodbye Old School

Posted on 11 Oct 2011 by Master Splinter

That is right my friends, I have decided that no matter how cool this site is, it is a pain to update and maintain. So what I have decided is that I am moving to a web 2.0 wordpress website with a wiki based style for easier management. Now this might take a while because I have a TON of information on this site already. So I will get everything over as quickly as I can.

The new web 2.0 features of this new site are great. If you already subscribe via RSS or Twitter you will get updates whenever anything is automatically added to the site. You can now easily share each page on your social network, and with the wikipedia like interface it is easy to navigate and I believe adds to the information on the site.

So this will be my last post here on the old web 1.0 MutantOoze.org... Have no fear though, this site will stay up until the conversion is complete... So sit back and enjoy the show!

News and Other Goodies

Hey all! I suppose I should start off with these two pics I found. This first image is supposedly a variant cover for IDW's #4. The second image is a variant for the Raph micro-series. What do you think? Let us know on Facebook.

MutantOoze's good friend Rutger recently interviewed Greg Cipes who is voicing Mikey in the new Nickelodeon series coming late 2012. Be sure to check it out as this is a good read. Thanks Rutger for sharing! Read Here

Lastly, I have added some new updates to the site. One of the best updates is the integration of Google search on this site. Click here to check out the new search and give it a spin! Some other new additions include the TMNT Home Video index. This includes VHS, DVD, Laserdisc, and BluRay releases. It isn't 100% complete but it is getting there. I have also added a Miscellaneous Merchandise Gallery, which features images from all over the web of the various TMNT branded items. From lunchboxes to keychains, you will see it in the gallery. Got something not in the gallery? Send it over! Be on the lookout for more of the toy section to be completed, an even more updated fan-art section, a new fan-fiction section, as well as a fan-comic section. I also need to mention that coming later this year is the first TMNT voice comic of Mirage Volume 1 Number 1. Check out VoiceComics.MutantOoze.org for more info. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Tumblr and Like us on Facebook.

Debut Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Comic Sells Out

Posted on 01 Sep 2011 by Master Splinter

Second printing with new cover coming in October

Just one week after the much-anticipated launch of IDW Publishing’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1, the highly praised comic is sold out from the distributor. IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon launched this new series on August 24th in comic stores throughout North America to rave reviews, leading to a run on the issue. While IDW is currently sold out, Turtles fans are encouraged to check with their local retailer for copies of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1 and to inquire about the second printing.

“The response to the debut issue of the series has been phenomenal,” said Greg Goldstein, IDW’s chief operating officer. “We are grateful to all the old and new Turtles fans who are supporting this series so strongly, and will be delivering the second printing as soon as possible.”

"WOW! What a wonderful welcome back," said co-creator Kevin Eastman. "Although this never could have been possible without such amazing and creative teams at Nickelodeon and IDW to work with, NONE of it would have been possible without the love and support of such amazing TMNT fans!"

IDW’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES offers a brand-new take on the original series, led by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and co-writer Tom Waltz (Silent Hill: Past Life, Infestation: Outbreak). Phenomenal newcomer Dan Duncan brings the Turtles to life with dynamic interior art, while Sam Kieth and Walter Simonson provide eye-catching covers for issues 1 and 2, respectively. For issues 3 through 5, Fred Hembeck will pay homage to classic covers. Eastman also provides layouts for Duncan's art, as well as variant covers. The second printing of this sought-after debut comic up will feature a new variant cover by Eastman.

"When I first started working on IDW's TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES with Kevin Eastman, Dan Duncan, and the rest of the IDW and Nickelodeon TMNT crew, I was excited and very optimistic about the possibilities. I mean, all the pieces were in place for a successful reboot," said co-writer Tom Waltz. "But to have fans and retailers jump onboard in such huge numbers -- and in such a positive fashion -- has far exceeded even my own lofty expectations for our ongoing series. It's already been an exciting ride and I couldn't be happier or more thankful. And, knowing what we have lined up for future issues, I can honestly say the best is yet to come!"

This first TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES series features new and exciting storylines that maintain the “turtle power” core beloved by millions of fans. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael reunite to bring their ninja aptitude and teenage attitude to these action-packed adventures. The first arc tells the origin story of the Turtles and introduces a new villain, the fearsome mutant alley cat, Old Hob. Featuring a cast of familiar characters, including Master Splinter, April O’Neill, Casey Jones, and true to the spirit of the original comics created by Eastman and Peter Laird, the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES are bigger and badder than ever, and ready to rock old and new fans alike.

In addition to this all-new series, IDW will also offer TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION. Beginning in October with volume 1, THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION offers over 300 pages of the best of the Turtles’ underground roots, including Mirage Studio’s issues 1 through 7, and the Raphael one-shot by Eastman and Laird.

IDW and Nickelodeon have a long-term commitment to revitalize the universe of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES comics and graphic novels. It’s all part of a larger initiative to bring Turtles to a new generation of fans, starting with these new storylines that recapture the magic of the original Turtles comics and continuing in 2012, when Nickelodeon will premiere a new CG-animated version of the wildly popular Turtles franchise.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) is now available in comic stores throughout North America.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION, VOLUME 1 ($49.99, hardcover, 312 pages, black and white, 9” x 12”) will be available in comic and book stores throughout North America in October. ISBN 978-1-61377-007-8.

t2z 3.0 and Other News

Posted on 18 Jul 2011 by Master Splinter

tOkKa has gone and outdone himself once again with the terrible2z.com website! Thanks to NinjaPizza and Mikeeperez for all of the help tOkKa says via his Twitter. So be sure to check out the new site and all of its goodness!

In other news this year at SDCC, Nickelodeon will be hosting a special Mutation In Progress sneak peek preview event. Tickets are hard to come by but I am sure there are still some available. I will not be attending myself but other TMNT sleuths will be in the audience and will be sure to get the information out after the event.

Also if you are going to be at SDCC this year be sure to stop by the IDW booth and pick up an exclusive TMNT ashcan (and if you are ever so kind, pick me up a copy too!).

Kevin Eastman along with reissuing his 25th anniversary collection book has also started up a deviantart account. Check out his page here! Something special about his reissue is that it will feature variant covers from Glenn Fabry, Mark Bode, Richard Corben, and Simon Bisley.

In other news one of the best unofficial TMNT news sites NinjaPizza.net has also gotten a new layout and design. I really like the design and would like to congratulate Roseangelo on the great new look!

Lastly, we have hit the over halfway point of tOkKa's terrible2z.com takeover. I hope everyone has checked out the gallery as there are now over 300+ works of art in there. Other features added so far this month include the offline MutantOoze.org Games download, the new covers from IDW's issue #1, 2, and SDCC 2011 ashcan. There is still a few more surprises coming this month so be sure to check back for more MutantOoze.org 2 Year Anniversary goodness!

tOkKa's terrible2z.com takeover!

Posted on 02 Jul 2011 by Master Splinter

Two years ago this month MutantOoze.org was registered and began serving up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle goodness. With that being said traffic has increased significantly over the last two years. The remix fan comic reached 115,000 downloads, and other sections of the site are serving up hundreds of page views daily. If you are reading this now, then please, pat yourself on the back because you helped bring those numbers in. Thank you!

Now about this takeover... I have always been a fan of tOkKa's art, I even own the April O'Neil below (as well as a Zat and some buttons).

I approached tOkKa with the idea of having his site sponsor a takeover of MutantOoze.org for the two year anniversary. During the entire month I will be showcasing and adding over 300+ works by tOkKa to MutantOoze. He thought it to be a good idea and even put together a MutantOoze exclusive piece! So be sure to check the site often during the entire month for more additions to the gallery, as well as some other special surprises coming from MutantOoze.org for this spectacular two year anniversary!
